History of Infant Massage

Infant Massage dates back thousands of years to when mothers in India passed the knowledge down from mother to daughter.  When mothers massaged their babies they found that they were much more settled in themselves.

The International Association of Infant Massage was first started by a lady called Vimala McClure. Whilst she was studying and working in a small orphanage in India in 1973, she was taught by the older women how to massage the infants.  Following the birth of her own child she formed small groups of baby massage which slowly developed and now is recognised as the I.A.I.M and is present in no less than 25 countries across the world.

Infant massage is a way of communication with your baby on all levels of their being and enhances the bond between you and your baby.  For many of us infant massage is a way to learn to touch our babies and to become an expert with our own unique child through touch, that will last a lifetime.
