Reflexology is a system of healing through the feet. It is a holistic healing technique - the term "holistic" derived from the Greek word holos which means "whole" - and as such aims to treat the individual as an entity incorporating body, mind and spirit. It is a specific pressure technique which works on precise reflex points on the feet, based on the premise that reflex areas on the feet correspond with all body parts. Pressure is applied to the reflex areas using specific thumb and finger techniques.

Reflexologists work on the bottom, top, sides and two inch over the ankle bone to reach the reflex points which correspond to all the areas in the body, to bring about health and wellbeing through relaxation. Using the fingers and thumbs to work these areas of the feet allows the body to bring itself back to a natural state of being.

Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Informing your doctor that you are receiving reflexology is encouraged.

"If reflexology never accomplished anything more than combating stress with relaxation, it is serving its purpose very well."

Relaxation is the first step to normalization. When the body is relaxed healing is possible.

One of the most important benefits of reflexology is its capability in reducing stress. Approximately 70% of disorders can be related to stress. Reflexology may facilitate and  help to alleviate the effects of stress by inducing deep relaxation.  A relaxed body can heal itself.

The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally.

A reflexologist cannot give you anything from reflexology, your body will take from reflexology what it needs to bring about balance.  You are in charge of the healing process all the way along.  Allowing the body to help itself, heal itself.
